The spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, has denied the news that said IS militants broke out of the city of Sirte.

Anadolu News Agency reported Al-Ghasri as saying that IS terrorists have been besieged from all frontlines since the end of last May and have not yet been able to break free.

“The IS attempts to open some routes for them to run away have been a great failure even though they carried out many suicide attacks. Therefore, those who were not killed from IS militants are divided between detained and besieged inside the remaining areas in the city.” Al-Ghasri indicated.

He added that there might be some of the IS leaders who escaped while the Misrata-led forces were advancing in Sirte last May, but not after May.

Italian media outlets have recently reported that IS militants have escaped from Sirte by sea toward Europe, while other reports said they ran away in the desert.
