The spokesman of the UN-proposed government’s Defense Ministry, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, said a war is possibly going to break out in the Libyan south and the begging of it will be known, while its end will be unpredictable.
“The war in the south is imminent and can take place in the coming months if the political situation in Libya remains as intricate as it is now.” Al-Ghasri added in a TV interview on Monday.
He also indicated that none of the IS militants in Sirte was able to escape after the city had been encircled by Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, stressing that the IS radicals that had made it to the southern region have escaped Sirte before we besieged it.
“We have over 2500 dead bodies of IS militants and hundreds of bodies are still under the rubble in Sirte.” Al-Ghasri added.
The spread of IS radicals in the south will be very troublesome for Libya because liberating the region from the terrorists will need years, Al-Ghasri indicated, saying that they urged the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government to ask the US to intervene in the war on IS in Sirte because the radical IS groups wanted to prolong the fight in the city.
