On the 7th anniversary of the February 17 revolution, the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj addressed the country saying all the sacrifices made during the revolution were aimed at building a democratic state, stressing that it is time Libya moves from a revolution to a state.
Al-Sirraj called on the House of Representatives (HoR) to speed up the issuing of the referendum law for the constitution, urging the international community and the UNSMIL to take up their responsibilities and clarify their stance regarding Libya’s draft constitution.
“All Libyan displaced people have the right to return to their houses in their cities, especially the displaced people abroad whom I urge to return and they will receive the necessary assistance from the government, regardless of their political views.” Al-Sirraj said.
He also said that foreign companies have started to return and suspended projects will be resumed, with priority given to southern Libya, rebuilding Benghazi and other war-torn cities in the country.
“This year, we will activate non-central administration via the municipalities.” Al-Sirraj explained, saying the fight against terrorism has not finished, urging the military and security institutions to be united to fight the terror threats.
He also warned of the attacks promised by certain parties on Derna, saying such a move will only lead to destruction and bloodshed.
“We hail the work of the security and military institutions that paid off in the clear secure and safe environment in Tripoli and other cities and we warn parties against attempting to stir troubles in the safe areas.” Al-Sirraj further added.
