Brega Oil Marketing Company announced on Thursday that three tankers had docked at the ports of Misrata, Tripoli and Al-Zawiya, each carrying 30 million liters of gasoline.
The company said in a post on Facebook that these quantities of fuel will be distributed to stations within two days to reduce the congestion caused by the delay in the arrival of tankers to the country.
It reported that the distribution of fuel in the city of Tripoli began Thursday morning, and fuel would be transferred directly from tankers to trucks that should in turn deliver fuel to gasoline stations across the city.
The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah had previously urged the Ministry of Interior and the Brega Oil Marketing Company to oblige fuel distribution companies to open closed stations and work 24/7 to address the congestion.
Tripoli and most Libyan cities in the east and west of the country are suffering from an acute fuel shortage that has led to long queues of cars in front of gasoline stations.
