The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has warned of a total blackout and the collapse of the electrical grid if control rooms do not comply with the GECOL's load shedding program.

"Some control rooms are refusing to engage in the load shedding program, including the power stations of West of Tripoli, Zawiya, and Harshah," GECOL said on Facebook Tuesday.

The GECOL added that some cities and regions do not comply with the instructions regarding hours of load shedding including Khmos, Ka’am, Garabulli, Nafousa Mountain, Abu Salim, Ajilat, Al-Jmail and South Surman.

The GECOL stressed that it will hold accountable all those who refuse to cooperate with the company in this matter for any collapse in the network.

Many cities are experiencing an acute crisis of power cuts, especially in Tripoli where the outage lasts for around 10 hours a day.
