Libya-Italy

Direct flights between Libya and Italy will resume next Saturday, Libya's Embassy in Italy announced on Wednesday.

“On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the first Medsky Airways flight will depart from Mitiga Airport in Tripoli to Fiumicino Airport - Rome," the embassy stated on its Facebook account.

According to the statement, the air carrier will operate two flights on Saturdays and Wednesdays each week.

The embassy hailed the efforts made to resume flights between the two countries, indicating that it "came after significant political and technical work carried out by the Government of National Unity."

Last July, the GNU Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah announced that the Italian government had lifted the ban on Libyan flights in its airspace, for the first time in a decade.
