The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah discussed with the United Nations (UN) envoy in Libya, Abdullah Bathily, the electoral process, ways to make it successful, and the government spending file.

Dbeibah said his government's vision toward the election file was based on fair and applicable laws, and that this is a precondition for the success of the elections, adding such laws would ensure the continuation of the state of stability the country had been witnessing lately.

The Libyan PM confirmed that the government was continuing to coordinate efforts with the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) with the aim of enhancing communication and implementing programs supporting the success of elections.

The meeting saw a discussion on the indicators of government spending during the first half of 2023, while Dbeibah noted the necessity of continuing the fair distribution of spending to all citizens in all regions, indicating that more than 80% of spending goes directly and equally to all citizens through salaries, grants and subsidies.

The UN envoy to Libya applauded the first meeting of the Mukhtars from across Libya and the massive attendance it witnessed from all regions, in the presence of a number of ministers and ambassadors to the country.
