The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, met Monday with the visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, in Tripoli, in his first visit to the Libyan capital in years.

Menfi's media office said Al-Zayani had conveyed at the beginning of the meeting the greetings of the King of Bahrain and his Crown Prince, reiterating the King’s invitation to Menfi to participate in the Arab Summit that will be hosted in Manama this month.

On Sunday, Menfi received an official invitation from the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to attend the Arab Summit in Manama in mid-May. The invitation was delivered by the Bahraini Ambassador to Libya Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdullah Al-Eid, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Council.

In a separate meeting in Tripoli also, the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, discussed with the Bahraini Foreign Minister the activation of the Libyan-Bahraini Supreme Committee - suspended in 2009 - and the signing of memoranda of understanding in various fields between the two countries, according to the Prime Minister’s media office.

The media office said that Dbeibah hailed Bahrain’s positive stance towards the Libyan file and its support for stability in Libya, wishing success for the 35th Arab Summit scheduled to be held in mid-May of this year, and commended the Summit's focus on the situation in Gaza. 

The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumua, and the acting Foreign MinisterAl-Taher Al-Baour.
