The UN Acting Envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, has called for a permanent ceasefire and a political solution to the conflict in Libya, noting that resolving the Libyan crisis remains a top priority for the United Nations.

In her closing remarks for the virtual Bouznika talks in Morocco, Williams welcomed the statements made by Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, and Speaker of the HoR of Tobruk Agila Saleh, regarding the ceasefire, the resumption of oil operations, and the meetings in Montreux, and Bouznika.

The UNSMIL Acting Head indicated that such developments represent an opportunity to re-launch the Libya Political Dialogue Forum.

She called on all Libyans to put the country's interest above all else, and to participate in the Libyan Dialogue Forum, noting that the 5 + 5 Joint Military Commission’s talks may reconvene in Switzerland very soon.
