The  Institution of the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has condemned the kidnapping of Khaled Khalifa Al-Twati, the General Manager of the National General Company for Maritime Transport.

In a statement Thursday, the institution said that an armed group attacked Al-Twati and his companions in front of his home in the Ghot Shaal neighbourhood in Tripoli.

The attackers, driving two vehicles with civilian plates, opened fire and kidnapped all of the group, taking them to an unknown location.

The NCHRL held the kidnappers accountable for the safety of Al-Twati and demanded his immediate release without any conditions.

Furthermore, the statement criticized the Government of National Unity for such security breaches and urged it to uncover the circumstances of the incident, secure his release, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
