Aljala Children’s Hospital in Tripoli shut doors to the open yesterday due to the outbreak of a bacteriological infection that led to the death of some of the housed newborns.

The Head of the maternity ward in the hospital, Najwa Al-Fituri clarified that the doctors discovered the infection cases of the infants late, which actually caused the death of three of them, while the rest were put to treatment after testing their blood.

Al-Fituri added that the hospital decided to close and refuse any delivery cases until further notice, knowing that the bacteria type, which probably broke out because of the remarkable crowding and poor sterilization in the hospital, has not been identified yet.
