The Therapeutic Services Support and Development Authority on Sunday welcomed the Slovak medical team assigned to operate the Misrata Physical Therapy Centre.
On October 11, the Treatment Services Development and Support Authority signed a partnership agreement with the Slovak company AX15 to run the centre as part of the government's strategy to localize treatment.
According to the agency, the Slovakian staff will administrate the centre, provide care for muscular dystrophy patients, and train local medical and paramedical staff.
Upon arrival, the Solvak team joined an expanded meeting grouping officials from the Therapeutic Services Support and the Misrata Physical Therapy Centre to assess the facility's needs and readiness.
The contract marks the first international partnership in this regard since 2011 and is considered a significant step towards localizing treatment, the authority said.
