The Therapeutic Services Support and Development Authority has signed a partnership agreement with the Slovak company (AX15) to operate the Misrata Physical Therapy Centre, which serves patients with glaucomatous muscular dystrophy.

The head of the Authority, Ahmed Militan, signed the agreement in the presence of the Libyan ambassador to Slovakia, per decision No. 631 of 2023 issued by the Government of National Unity.

Underlining the importance of the partnership, the authority said that this is the first international contract signed in this regard since 2011.

According to the statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office will oversee the agreement under the muscular dystrophy file, thereby eliminating the need to send patients overseas for treatment.

The authority deemed the deal a vital step towards localizing treatment, revealing plans to engage other health centres when they confirm their readiness.
