The Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtane Lamamra, has stressed his country's rejection of the multiple paths of solution in its eastern neighbor, Libya.

This came during his meeting with the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Libya, Stephanie Williams, who visited Algeria on Thursday, according to a statement by the Algerian Foreign Ministry.

Lamamra stressed the necessity of avoiding the multiplicity of tracks and initiatives through which some aim to search for fictitious regional roles, at the expense of the interests of the Libyan people, which have achieved no result other than disrupting the mediation of the United Nations.

He also reiterated Algeria's support for the UN efforts in Libya, and its consistent position on the need to redouble efforts to enable the Libyan people to exercise their sovereign right to choose their representatives.
