Members of the French Foreign and Defence Committee of the French Senate reaffirmed yesterday, during a meeting with the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame in Tunis, Paris's support for the UN envoy’s action plan and the mediation efforts by the United Nations to resolve the Libyan crisis.

Through its Facebook page, the Embassy of France in Libya welcomed the Cairo meetings aimed at unifying the military institution under the civilian authority, considering these talks as a complement to the mediation of the United Nations.

The embassy explained that Libya today is in need more than ever for a unified and inclusive army that represents the whole country in order to combat terrorism and smuggling, and to ensure the security of its borders.
