The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced on Thursday the addition of 220 megawatts to the electricity network, after operating the first unit at Al-Khums emergency power station, noting that this capacity will later be increased to 265 megawatts.

GECOL explained on its Facebook page that the operation of the first unit at the Al-Khums emergency power station came after raising the pressure value at station No. (88) from 20 bars to more than 26.5 bars, which is the pressure required to operate the two emergency units at the Al-Khums power station.

The General Electricity Company hailed everyone who contributed to this work, and particularly mentioned the Chairman and members of the National Oil Corporation for their assistance and support.
