Spokesman of the Municipal Council of Gharyan, Hamid Al-Nuweisri, has denied news reports circulated in some media outlets of allocating large sums of money to celebrate the 17th of February revolution.
In a press statement, Al-Nuweisri said that the amount allocated by the municipality does not exceed 3 thousand dinars in cheques because of the lack of cash.
He added that the celebrations will be funded by civil society activists and institutions in the city to arrange a simple symbolic ceremony.
Social networking pages and television channels reported that the Municipal Council of Gharyan allocated 28 million dinars for the celebrations this year.
