Member of Ghat Emergency Committee, Hassan Issa announced a state of emergency in the city on Wednesday, following forecasts of heavy rains during this period.

Issa renewed his call for the Presidential Council (PC) to expedite the implementation of the proposal presented by the government, which includes measures to address the floods that hit the city last June.

The proposal included the constructing of dams and controlling the course of floodwater, in order to cope with this problem.

The city of Ghat was hit last June, by floods that swept nearly 70% of the city, as a result of persistent torrential rains.
