The UN Support Mission in Libya hosted a meeting at its HQ in Tripoli between the mission's officials headed by its Chief, Abdoulaye Bathily, and Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs, Walid Al-Lafi.

A statement by the Hakomitna platform said the two sides agreed to form joint organizational teams to coordinate efforts, exchange views and implement programs related to the planned elections.

Bathily got an insight into the efforts to move the electoral process forward, including the ongoing coordination between the Government of National Unity (GNU) and the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC), besides the government's endeavour to make them a success.

During the meeting, Al-Lafi highlighted the GNU's efforts to establish the General Authority for Monitoring Media Content, which the government says aims to provide a safer media environment for elections.
