The President of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid Al-Mishri, said that he would accept the results of the elections, regardless of who wins.

In a statement to the English Middle East Eye news website, Al-Mishri said that concerns of those who fear that Khalifa Haftar might stand for elections are legitimate and justified.

He added that they will insist on electing on constitutional grounds after the referendum on the constitution.

"I am certain that many players, possibly Haftar, will be subject to many legal challenges. These wars waged, and concerns raised by human rights groups. I am sure there will be many challenges," Al-Mishri pointed out, explaining that if Haftar decides to run the elections, his actions will limit his chances of winning.
