Khalifa Haftar received on Monday the Chief of Egyptian General Intelligence, Abbas Kamel, at the headquarters of his forces in Al-Rajma area in Benghazi.
A statement published by the media office of Haftar's forces command said that the two sides met over an Iftar banquet, and they discussed the latest political developments in the Libyan crisis.
The statement added that the two sides discussed "the importance of moving the political process forward by supporting the balanced efforts of the United Nations mission in Libya."
It pointed out that Haftar "praised Egypt's important role in achieving a political settlement in Libya."
Kamel reaffirmed his country's support for "all steps aimed at holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections to reach a stage of permanent stability."
