The Italian ‘Itamilradar’ website revealed on Saturday that the Italian Navy has raised its readiness to protect the oil installations that bring gas to Italy, after the attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines in the Black Sea.

The website stated that three gas pipelines are under watch by the Italian Navy, namely the “TransMed” natural gas pipeline from Algeria through Tunisia to the island of Sicily and then to Italy mainland, and the second Greenstream pipeline, which secures connection with Libya while the third that secures the flow of gas to Europe Eastern and passes on the coasts of Italy and Albania.

According to press sources, the Italian Navy is moving in several directions to protect this gas infrastructure by using minesweepers to protect the seabed where pipelines pass, in addition to deploying frigates and aircrafts at the Sigonella base on the island of Sicily.
