The Libyan Coast Guard received Sunday new equipment and spare parts for the maintenance and repair of its fleet from the Italian government.
"The equipment included technical and logistical support provided by the Italian Coast Guard to the Libyan Coast Guard in order to ensure the maintenance of the marine units", the Italian embassy tweeted.
It also stressed that the equipment provided comes within the framework of cooperation between the two countries in order to combat smuggling activities.
