The Italian new interior minister from the Northern League (Lega Nord), an anti-immigrant party, Matteo Salvini, revealed that he is to conduct visits to the countries of Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria in order to urge them to be bound by the bilateral agreements, which provides for the reception of illegal immigrants.

Salvini expressed his desire to implement his pledges of stemming the flow of illegal immigrants and expel them to their countries.

The Italian media quoted him as saying "In the context of activating the process of departing migrants, I will soon visit Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt, in addition to Libya, the countries concerned with bilateral agreements with Italy to urge them to commit to receiving their nationals who entered Italy in an illegal way."
