Libya has advanced six places over last year in the world rankings for press freedom for 2024.

Libya came in 143rd place on the index that included 180 countries around the world, and no arrests of journalists, kidnappings, or killings were recorded in Libya in 2024, according to Reporters Without Borders.

Libya ranked 11th in the Arab world and 143rd in the world, followed by Somalia 145th, Sudan 149th, Yemen 154th, Palestine 157th, the UAE 160th, Djibouti 161st, Saudi Arabia 166th, and Iraq 169th.
