Zliten

The Government of National Unity (GNU) has allocated 90 million dinars to the Ministry of Housing and Construction to compensate those affected by rising groundwater levels in the municipality of Zliten.

As per the decision issued on Thursday, the allocation will be based on documented lists within the ministry and will be debited from the miscellaneous expenses category.

This decision followed a meeting between the mayor of Zliten, Muftah Hamadi, and Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, attended by the Central Committee for the Water Level Crisis.

Previously, Hamadi had called for expedited compensation for those affected by the water level crisis after receiving promises from the government.

It is noteworthy that the rising groundwater levels in Zliten have caused damage to 11 schools and several homes and buildings.
