Customs spokesman, Fahmy Al-Maqouri said that there is a rudimentary shift in the method of drug smuggling, from the import of contraband drugs to the manufacture of narcotics inside of Libya itself.

Al-Maqouri explained those entities he described as “drug mafias”, tend to supply equipment and even machinery, which vastly increases the quantities of smuggled drugs from small amounts to larger quantities, even to the size of container loads.

He added that the Customs Authority depends on great capabilities and strategies to be capable to combat the smuggling of contraband in all ports, according to what he said.

The Customs Authority, on Thursday, foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs, entering a factory used in the manufacture of narcotics originating from Lebanon through the Tripoli port.
