Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the latest developments in Libya during his visit to the French city of Brest on Friday.

A statement by the Egyptian presidency said the two sides exchanged notes on regional issues of common interest, chief among them was developments in the Libyan crisis.

According to the statement, Macron praised the Egyptian efforts to preserve Libyan national institutions and promote the path of a political settlement of the crisis stressing that the Egyptian efforts in this aspect are appreciated by the entire international community.

The two sides agreed to combine efforts to help the Libyans restore security and stability in their country, in particular, through the withdrawal of mercenary and foreign forces in all their forms.
