Libyan Navy Spokesman, Brigadier General Ayoub Qasim, has confirmed that the Libyan Coast Guard rescued 6,835 illegal immigrants and recovered more than 10 bodies off the Libyan coast during this year.

Qasim revealed in a press statement on Monday that the number of missing persons has amounted to190 immigrants, noting that the percentage of immigrants had decreased to 42%, while the percentage of deaths dropped to 87%, compared to the same period last year.

In their latest operation on Monday, Libya's Coast Guard rescued more than 50 illegal immigrants, including 14 women, near the coast of Abu Kammash district.
