The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, has declared that the crisis of human trafficking in Africa’s Sahel region, the desert, Niger, Mali and Chad would lead to instability in Libya.

"The treatment of the phenomenon of illegal immigration requires a partnership between the European Union, the origin countries of migrants besides the transit countries." Mogherini said in a press statement on Monday, adding that there is a need to create employment opportunities for young people in African countries.

She called for support to the Libyan authorities in controlling borders and in managing the detention centers as well as providing assistance to international organizations that work to assist migrants.
