A militiaman from Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army has stabbed an on-duty doctor at Al-Jalaa Hospital for Surgery and Accidents in Benghazi, sources say.

The medical staff at outpatient clinic of Al-Jalaa Hospital for Women and Childbirth in Tripoli have gone on strike over security fears after an armed group attempted to arrest an on-duty nurse.

The Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, the results of the first turn of secondary school certificate for the academic year 2016-2017 at home and abroad, in addition to the preparatory education certificate results for 2016-2017 for Libyan schools abroad.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Adel Jumaa, has reviewed in a meeting on Wednesday with the Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shukshuk, the contractual and administrative measures taken by the Ministry of Education on preparing for the new academic year. The meeting, which was held at the Audit Bureau, discussed the education sector projects presented to the Audit Bureau and ways and means to provide schools with its needs prior the new school year. The new school year 2017/2018 is scheduled to start on October 01.

The Education Facilities Authority- Sirte branch- announced that it had completed the maintenance work of the schools located within the municipality of Sirte and the surrounding areas. The director of the branch, Abu Bakr Al-Jalab, said that several schools are nearing completion of maintenance work and will be in time to receive students on their first day at school, commending the role of local firms and all who took part in the maintenance process despite difficulties. He pointed out that the branch began receiving the ready schools conformed to the engineering and technical specifications in the Educational Facilities Authority, and in accordance with the instructions issued by the Minister of Education.The new school year 2017/2018 is scheduled to start on October 01.

The fighting areas in Benghazi witnessed a cautious calm for more than a week after combat operations halted between the Dignity Operation and Benghazi Shura Council. A source from the Shura Council said that militants of Dignity Operation are still besieging the area of Sidi Khreibish and other areas still controlled by the Shura Council after failing to advance towards the Shura's emplacement.

The director of Sharara oil field, Hassan Al-Siddiq, confirmed the resumption of work in the field on Wednesday following its suspension on August 19. In a press statement, Siddiq said that production is to resume after an agreement between the Oil Facilities Guard affiliated to the Presidential Council government and an armed group responsible for the shutdown of Rayayna pipeline, expecting the production to go back to its normal level within 3 days. An armed group from Zintan town had closed the field demanding the release of a relative held by the Special Deterrence Force on criminal charges.

The Libyan International Forum for Peace has inaugurated in Tunisia on Wednesday, with the participation of several mayors of Libyan municipalities, activists and civil society organizations. The event will last for two days and will focus on supporting and strengthening the role of municipalities, civil society, and citizens in building domestic peace. The forum is sponsored and supported by the Dutch Foreign Ministry, the European Union, and the Institute for Diplomatic Studies, in addition to the Dutch Municipalities Union.

The employees of the Central Bank of Libya held a protest on Wednesday outside the bank's headquarters in Tripoli to denounce the abduction of the director of the IT department, Mabruk Al-Rujbani, by unknown gunmen. The protesters denounced the repeated kidnappings of their colleagues, calling on security authorities to take the necessary measures to secure his release and to prevent such acts in the future. Al- Rujbani's fate is still unknown.

The draw for the Minifootball World Cup Tournament finals have put Libya in the sixth group along with the hosting country Tunisia, Portugal and Lebanon. The Libyan Minifootball team is considered as one of the most prominent teams in the Arab world and Africa. The team is managed by the national coach Ali Al Rayani. Tunisia will host the Minifootball World Cup finals from October 6 to 15.

An armed group has intercepted six fuel trucks loaded with 250,000 liters of diesel fuel while they were on their way to the Ubari power plant on Wednesday. The armed attackers forced the drivers to unload the shipment to other trucks belonging to them, taking their phones and detaining them until they finished unloading and ran away. On its Facebook page, the Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee said that the drivers were released and are back safe in Tripoli, demanding security authorities to take actions to track down the armed group and bring them to justice.

Customs authorities at Misrata Port have seized three containers full of tramadol tablets in the last few days. On its Facebook page, Misrata Customs Authority said that it has issued a citation of the incident in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, transferring the three containers to the Crime Control Centre for custody until fulfilling the legal procedures.
