The US Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, held a virtual meeting on Tuesday with women possessing leadership qualities.

The meeting disused methods to enhance women’s participation in political life in Libya as not only voters but elected officials and more specifically as holders of sovereign positions.

The US embassy commended the success achieved by the coalition of civil society organizations in Libya, which were reflected through the road map of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) and also in joint statements that support women in sovereign positions, in addition to the pledges of the candidates to support a 30% quota, along with the appointment of women ministers to the portfolios of justice, culture and foreign affairs.
