Pakistani authorities said on Friday that more than 2,000 Pakistanis who tried to move to Italy illegally are being held in Libyan prisons.
Last week, a migration boat that set off from the coast of Tobruk in eastern Libya to Italy with at least 800 people on board, including hundreds of Pakistanis, sank off Greece, and the coast guard there managed to rescue only 104 people.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Rana Sanullah assured that the government will take stern action and will present the results of the investigation into the incident within a week by assigning the responsibility against those involved in this negligence.
