Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah paid a visit to the Libyan-Algerian border during his tour To Ghadames on Thursday.
The PM was accompanied by an array of his ministers, including the Interior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of State.
The Department of Media and Government Communication said that Dbeibah discussed preparations for reopening the border crossing, Dabdab, for traffic movement after it was limited to commercial use.
The reopening of the borders between the two neighbouring countries comes as Libya makes its way towards stability after years of unrest following the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
