Libyan Ports and Maritime Transport Authority have called on commercial, industrial and oil ports, along with all major iron, steel and towing companies, to prepare and equip all vessels and machinery operating in the ports, following the loss of control of the Slouq Floating Tank.

In a statement, the authority reiterated the necessity to form an emergency operation room to follow up and protect marine installations and ports from all and any such collisions which might result from the approach towards the reservoir due to bad weather conditions.

Slouq Floating Tank has become out of control after one of the chains binding the platform broke last month.
