The Public Prosecution Office has banned the use of methyl bromide after receiving a request from the National Anti-Corruption Authority.

The request included evidence of the import of a quantity of methyl bromide in the form of liquefied gas used in the control of agricultural pests and sterilization of soil, although it is confirmed that it is a toxic gas.

“All precautionary measures that contribute to consumer protection and the public interest have been taken”, the Public Prosecution Office said, instructing the controlling authorities to determine the supply points for methyl bromide and to limit and seize the available quantities.
