Russia's Ambassador to Libya, Aidar Aghanin, has discussed with the outgoing United Nations envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, the current stalemate of the political process and ways to overcome the crisis and division in this country.
The Russian Embassy explained in a statement by saying: “The Russian Ambassador to Libya, Mr. Aydar Aganin, met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Mr. Abdoulaye Bathily, with whom he discussed the current impasse in the Libyan political process and ways to overcome the crisis and division in this country.”
The Russian ambassador expressed his regret at the Special Representative's decision to resign suddenly and wished him all the best and successes in the next stage of his life, stressing that he would always be happy to meet him again if he continued his career in international relations in a national or international capacity.
