Foreign Minister Mohamed Siyala on Thursday discussed on a phone call with his counterpart of the Republic of Burkina Faso numerous issues of African and bilateral concerns.

The Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Alpha Barry phoned Siyala to congratulate him on electing a new executive authority in Libya, expressing hope that this would contribute to supporting peace and stability in Libya, according to a statement by Libya's Foreign Ministry.

The Burkinabe minister confirmed to Siyala his country's support for the new commissioners who were elected during the African Summit that took place on February 6 and 7.

He also expressed his government's desire to hold consultations during the coming period on the candidates to fill several AU offices, including commissioner for health, humanitarian affairs, social development, education, science, technology, and innovation, which will be contested between Northern and Western Africa regions during the next session of the AU Executive Council.
