The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has welcomed the release on Sunday of eight captives being held in the eastern region within the framework of the Joint Military Committee 5+5 agreement.

In an official tweet, UNSMIL commended the efforts of the 5+5 committee and all players who contributed to this achievement, as part of important confidence-building measures for the future.

The mission also called for the further release of all detainees in a manner that supports national reconciliation in order to achieve lasting peace and stability in Libya.
