The Libyan Interior Minister Emad Al-Trabelsi said that his ministry was ready to form a joint force with Khalifa Haftar’s forces in the southern region to secure the border, adding in a meeting organized by the Ministry of Interior on Monday about the vision to enhance security and integrated border management to reduce illegal immigration, under the slogan “Optimal solutions for border management for a better future", that there was a possibility of cooperating with Haftar’s forces to form a joint force to secure the southern border, similar to cooperation in the western region between the Ministry of Interior and the General Staff of the Libyan Army.

Al-Trabelsi proposed forming a force to be headed by “any person whose name is proposed, whether from Haftar’s forces or the Ministry of Interior, and from any region in Libya,” saying that they were prepared to form this force within two or three months, with a capacity of 1000 vehicles and 5000 police officers from the east, south and west.

"Border security is an integrated administration and not a political issue. The police and security personnel are sincere about their duties, and if we agree, we are certain that securing our country's borders will not exceed 90 days", Al-Trabelsi added, saying that Libya would not be able to secure its borders “unless we cooperated,” noting that there was cooperation among the security apparatuses in all regions of Libya, east, south, and west.
