The United States extended on Wednesday the sanctions imposed on Libya, Russia, and Iran for another year.

The sanctions were initially imposed on Libya in March 2011 after the Qaddafi regime used force against civilians.

The current sanctions regime includes an arms embargo, targeted asset freezes, travel bans, and measures to prevent illegal oil exports.

It may be worth noting that the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States are all implementing independent and UN sanctions on Libya.
