The Public Prosecution has announced that the investigating authority ordered the imprisonment of a member of a gang consisting of 30 individuals in Zuwara who deliberately deprived two migrants of their freedom, to force their families pay sums of money as a ransom for their release.
The gang is linked to other networks in neighboring countries involved in these acts. It has been confirmed that the arrested person committed the crime of kidnapping 14 migrants and subjected them to torture, as well as cruel, degrading and inhuman treatment, the Public Prosecution added.
The prosecution confirmed in its statement that the arrested person filmed scenes of torture with the aim of forcing the families of the victims to pay a ransom.
