NOC-UNSMIL

Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Farhat Bengdara, reviewed, on Tuesday, with the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, pressing issues in the oil sector.

Bathily stressed the need to distance the oil sector from political polarization, with an emphasis on ensuring that oil is not used as a weapon in the existing conflict.

"We discussed the critical importance of preserving the unity, impartiality, and integrity of the national institution, as it is a vital and essential pillar to support the Libyan economy," Bathily said.

In turn, Bengdara lauded the UN envoy "for his support" and affirmed the NOC's commitment to working with the United Nations to ensure the continuation of Libyan oil production and export.

The meeting also touched upon the importance of Libyan oil production and export to continue, as well as the need to address the challenges facing the National Oil Corporation.
