The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibha, has issued an order that establishes April 26 of every year as a National Libyan Women’s Day.

The decision was made during a gathering of women in support of elections in Tripoli. The gathering was organized Saturday by the office of Women’s Affairs Minister and it was attended by many personalities, including women ministers of Foreign Affairs, and Justice.

Dbiebah reaffirmed the need to activate the role of women in the file of elections, saying their role has become special in all fields, especially in politics.

According to the Government of National Unity’s media office, the Ministers of Justice, Women’s Affairs and Social Affairs reiterated the importance of supporting women in all fields, especially in the file of elections.

Participants at the gathering stressed the need to activate the role of women in political affairs and holding elections to respect the desire of about three million people for holding parliamentary and presidential elections.
