Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah said that the keenness to develop ports and free zones was not only to meet the needs of the Libyan market, but also the Sahara countries in Africa, which he said "relied heavily on the ports of the Sahel countries."
Dbeibah's remarks came during the activities of the North African International Conference and Exhibition for Ports and Free Zones held in Misrata.
"We realize the importance of developing ports and free zones, which coincided with work to develop the infrastructure, road network, and services of all kinds so that they perform their function to the fullest.” Dbeibah said.
He also welcomed the countries participating in this important conference and exhibition for exchanging experiences, pointing out that developing ports was one of the priorities that the Government of National Unity had been working on.
Dbeibah also revealed a plan to implement five fishing ports in Al-Garabulli, Al-Khoms, Zuwara, Tajoura and Soussa, in addition to development projects for the ports of Tripoli and Benghazi to increase commercial traffic.
