The Ministry of Defence under the Government of National Unity has confirmed that the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, remains stable following unexpected military movements in certain areas overnight.
In a statement released on Monday, the ministry described the developments as a "clear breach" of existing ceasefire arrangements and established security understandings. It added that the situation had been swiftly brought under control.
“The ministry monitored the movements through its official channels and intervened immediately to contain the situation and enforce the ceasefire,” the statement read. “The violating elements have since withdrawn and returned to their previous positions without any escalation.”
The ministry reiterated its full commitment to the decisions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army and to the tasks of the interim committee responsible for military and security arrangements. It also praised the discipline of regular forces and their efforts to preserve public order and avoid confrontation.
The Defence Ministry issued a warning against any repeat of such incidents, stating it was prepared to take all necessary measures to uphold national security and safeguard the ongoing redeployment process overseen by state institutions.
