‎The Dutch ambassador to Libya, Joost Klaerink, revealed the topics of his discussions with the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, and members of the HoR during his visit to the city of Benghazi last week, according to statements published by the embassy on its Facebook page, Sunday.

The Dutch ambassador described his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives as fruitful, and explained that they discussed the political process and agreed on the need for elections, inclusiveness, and a unified government.

He added that in parallel, the national reconciliation process, including transitional justice, is of paramount importance for Libya's stability. We are also involved in other crucial legislation such as the Civil Space Law and Violence Against Women.

The Dutch ambassador indicated that during his visit to the city of Benghazi, he also met members of the House of Representatives and the HoR committees for public freedoms, human rights, and women's and children's affairs, describing his meetings with them as inspiring.

On January 15, the spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Blehiq, said that Saleh discussed with the Dutch ambassador the latest developments in Libya at all levels, and ways to develop joint cooperation between the two countries.
