The latest round of the Libyan political dialogue wrapped up in Geneva on Wednesday after two days of negotiations headed by UNSMIL’s head Bernardino Leon.
The participating parties agreed that there would be no other solution than a unanimous unity of vision as the dialogue geared forth to its final stage, pointing that the joining of the leaders of political parties in one part of the negotiations is a positive step in the dialogue.
According to the final statement of the UNSMIL-brokered talks, the formal and final signing of the political dialogue agreement would take place at the beginning of September.
The head of GNC dialogue team Saleh Al-Makhzoom told reporters following the talks that his team had received a formal letter from the head of UNSMIL Bernardino Leon explaining a mechanism for inclusion of GNC amendments in the UNSMIL draft.
"Our team will return to Tripoli to discuss this mechanism." He said.
Annexes to the draft agreement will be discussed in the coming three weeks.
