The Algerian Minister of African and Maghreb Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel, has indicated from Algiers today that ensuring the stability in Libya entails the security of both Algeria and Tunisia.

Messahel pointed out in a press release following his reception of his Tunisian counterpart, Tuhami Abdoulli that the discussions revolved around the security issues in the region, confirming that there is a mutual comprehensive cooperation between Algeria and Tunisia as regards to securing the borders with Libya.

He also outlined that several security issues, particularly the Libyan ones, were on the table, saying: “we are doing our best to maintain stability in our neighboring country, Libya, and we both see eye to eye regarding the fact that a political and peaceful solution is the only way out of Libya’s crisis.”

Messahel concluded by expressing his and Tunisia’s optimism to see on the ground a government of national unity formed under the supervision of the UN, which would allow stability to spread its wings over Libya gradually.
