Muhammad Menfi, head of the Presidential Council (PC), received a US delegation on Tuesday in the presence of his deputy Abdullah Al -Lafi.
The US team included Secretary of State assistant Barbara Leaf, US special envoy Richard Norland, and the Chargé d'Affairs Leslie Ordman.
A statement by the PC said the meeting discussed issues of common interest in the military, security, and economic field.
During the meeting, Leaf presented a briefing on her recent talks with Libyan actors and the UN Envoy Abdoulaye Bathily, praising at the same time the PC's efforts towards national reconciliation and elections.
Menfi commended the US's "positive" role towards the Libyan crisis and its keenness to preserve Libya's national sovereignty, as well as supporting Bathily's roadmap for elections.
Upon her arrival in Libya, Leaf convened several meetings with key actors from both camps in Libya, including Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Parliament Speaker Aqeela Saleh, and Khalifa Haftar, in which she discussed with him the presence of the Russian Wagner group and its role in destabilizing the region, according to a statement by the US embassy on Twitter.
